It never ceases to amaze me how many folks around here feel qualified to take the Lord’s place in determining who is and who is not saved. The last I recall faith in Christ and his atoning work on the crosswas the requirement, not one’s position on capital punishment or immigration. But then perhaps their version of the Bible has a couple extra chapters that I missed

I heard Mike Huckabee on Jon Stewart.
It’s a shame that Mike can have such a platform and be unable to articulate what a conservative is.
Let me do it.
People have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the government is only there to break up disputes, the city and state governments that is. The federal government is only there to settle disputes between the states and provide for a national defense of threats from foreign nations.
The people of each state can vote in or out anything they would like as long as it does not interfere with another state. For example, if Connecticut voted for Gay marriage and most voters were for it, then eventually the population of Connecticut would be primarily gay. Most of the straight people would move to a state that would not vote in favor of gay marriage. For Connecticut to influence New York to vote in gay marriage would be just as wrong as New York trying to influence Connecticut to ban it. The federal government only steps in if the gay state of Connecticut tried to enforce their laws on the straight state of New York. I only used gay marriage because I live in Connecticut and that issue was just unconstitutionally forced upon an apathetic electorate but use any example.
The federal government can only collect point of purchase end user sales taxes and import tax to fund a national defense and basically a law firm. The tax payer will know exactly what they are up to if the twenty five cent loaf of bread on the shelf rings up as two dollars and twenty nine cents. That’s called transparency, they all call for it like a weatherman calls for snow, but it’s just never exactly what they called for.
That’s it. The states and municipal governments run at home by local people who know the local needs will vote in or out ideas for the communities and the state.
It’s a very simple plan, the beauty of our constitution.
The alarmists and anarchy criers will undoubtedly show their lack of faith in all the rest of our society. They will site the crimes and chaos created by their very own social and fiscal plans and schemes while convincing the ignorant that more of the same will someday fix it.
The reality is that if the big three were left alone the factories and workers could all still make cars there, and sell them to us and around the world.
With no taxes at every single turn in the production of every single good we consume a loaf of bread might be a quarter, a well appointed car under $10,000.00, every single item would be less to purchase while every single worker got to keep what they make.
One worker families will be revived, children will have a parent around all the time to be taught by and fed and looked after. Crime and addiction will naturally all but disappear. The streamline one thought process national school system will be gone and things we have absolutely no idea about will be created by the limitless avenues of knowledge taught by the countless neighborhood and home schools around the country and compiled at the university levels and in industry. A message brought to you by the ad council would sound so ridiculous imploring you to eat dinner together, with your family. DUH!
Being a politician would no longer bring a very high six-figure income and “career politicians” will be unmissed and gone.
The problem with the Jon Stewart, Barrack Obama, socialist ideology is that they not only want to do what they want, they want to force you to do it too, or not even for you to do it, as long as you are forced to pay for it.
I would have told Mr. Stewart that as a conservative, I don’t really care what you do as long as it doesn’t stop me from my pursuit of happiness and liberties and especially my freedom. And as long as you don’t try to force me to pay for your lifestyle I won’t ask you to pay for mine.
