Close, but no cigar. There’s that little thing in the U.S. Constitution that prevents that from happening unless other requirements are met as well. If you want it changed, amend the Constitution, if you can. I think it’s a good prohibitory provision. It prevents someone from buying or stealing the office, an example of which appears to be happening right now.
I should have said it lessens the chance for someone who has political imperatives and loyaltires at odds with our peculiar constitutional representative Republic from buying or stealing the office.
