Very well said; add me to your list of scared sh*tless - for our Country, our Society, and our Children. My father, a Brit Vet and Quaker that fought in Europe, revered Ike, and was truly sorry to see him leave office.

Thanks for the kind words and we are all indebted to men like your father and my grandfathers who fought (under the command of generals like Ike) in the Second World War to defend liberty.

Found this spooky article dated February 1955 from Time that is like a crystal ball "back to the future": Eisenhower believes that his team stopped the drift toward more welfare statism, and that it achieved this without dividing the nation and disrupting the economy.

Of course, Time wasn't a liberal rag in 1955, so they could print something like that.... now imagine it's the year 2025 and we've lived through war, unprecedented economic depression and nearly 20 years of liberal rule in the White House. President David Petraeus believes that his team stopped the drift toward more welfare statism, and that it achieved this without dividing the nation and disrupting the economy.

Of course, Ike couldn't stop his successor from instituting the Great Society and plunging us into a war in Vietnam that White House wouldn't allow the troops to win.

Eisenhower had openly criticized LBJ's Great Society in the 1960s. In return, the liberal media derided Ike's legacy and painted him as a tired, bitter old man (as they did with Reagan, Goldwater and most recently John McCain). Meanwhile, they elevate and celebrate the legacies of men like LBJ and Robert Byrd.

I thank God every day that Eisenhower and Reagan fought against the drift towards welfare statism and I eagerly await the next great Republican President who fights for individuals and small business against the ever increasing power of the ever growing central welfare statist government in DC.
