Stop the Coup d'etat

Simply put, Canadians rejected Stephane Dion for P.M. - the Liberal Party itself has rejected Stephane Dion - and now we hear that he will be thrust upon us - unelected, of course, as in any real banana republic - to be our new federal leader.

I don’t get it - how can this happen? Isn’t the conservative, Stephen Harper, your guy up there?

Good question, and I understand the confusion. Our parliamentary system is such a farce, the opposition combined has more ‘seats’ (MPS) than Harper’s Conservatives. So, if they can sell a reason to the public and the Gov. General, a coalition could take over the gov’t - unelected - for a considerable period of time. Along with the blatant disregard for a just-done election, the scary thing is the proposal itself - the NDP (far-left socialist) would destroy Canada’s (Alberta’s) oilsands industry in the name of environmentalism, the Liberal leader Stephane Dion would become our Prime Minister even though he not only just lost an election but already announced that he is quitting the party, and the balance of power would be with the Third of the 3-Headed monster, the Quebec Separatists whose sole purpose for exsistance is the end of Canadian confederation.

Hey - if my province of Alberta separates, how’d ya like a new state? lol

I'd take Alberta in a heartbeat. Two opportunities for Conservative Senators! What a change that would be.

Free Dominion!

This might not be the worst thing for the Conservative Party in the long run. The economy is tanking and if the coalition takes over all the economic woes will be blamed on the Liberals, Bloc Quebec and the NDP. Dion is a dud. He’ll turn people off. They’ll be angry from the start because of the way Dion became Prime Minister. Conservatives will win even more seats in the next election. If they stay in power, they’ll probably lose seats as the people will blame the bad economy on them.

In theory, I agree. However, there wouldn’t be time for it to play out. The vibe here in Alberta is a rejection of Harper is a rejection of Alberta conservatism, and would be the last straw. Especially if the socialists got control over the Alberta economy - the battle would unravel Canadian unity and would most likely be the end of confederation.

The level of disgust for this action and the rise of pro-independence in the province are incredible right now.

A better idea how about Alberta welcoming about 25 states into union with them. Not sure Alberta would want to join Obama nation.

I can see a future with a re-mapped North America. Alberta, Texas, and other conservative areas vs. the liberal, socialist rest (you know, where the Muslims live?) lol
