Praise be to Jesus!
USC played everybody but the janitor in the 4th quarter, showing plenty of mercy to ND
Exactly, game could have been 60-0.
“Cheaters never prosper.”
I graduated from USC in 1978. My Bro-in-law is a ND ‘81 guy. It just so happened that they were visiting this weekend, then they had to drive back to Atlanta. Talk about Schadenfreude. At least he had the common sense not to bet me on the game. My sister would’ve killed him.

Well, maybe if he picked the Irish and 40 pts...
I disagree - they just need to win. Their problem is 99% coaching/management. They aren’t having trouble scheduling games, and have a great TV contract. The schedule would only be tougher in the big-10, so they’d probably be worse before they got better.
He’s not that savvy.
From my vantage point in the Coliseum last Saturday, it seemsd that it was the Trojan defense that really shone, bottling up the Domers and preventing them from making a first down for nearly three quarters.
I was especially pleased that the Domers brought out their band. I’ve attended every USC-Notre Dame game at the Coliseum since 1974, and this is the first time I’ve seen it. They serenaded us with a rousing rendition of our theme song, “Fight On!” during the pregame festivities and also put on a good half time show.
Next Saturday, it’s off to the Arroyo Seco where the Trojans will battle the UCLA Bruins for the LA city championship.
ND has only been shut-out once this year. See Post 2.
We (in LA) had ND tickets but gave them to a friend. Had gone two years ago, though, and it was kind of sad. Plus, no band and the Domers were all scattered throughout the colliseum. I am SO GLAD to hear they brought the band this time; I bet it really made a difference.
USC has one great team.
Back in the 1970’s the Trojan Marching Band had to play the Notre Dame Victory March for our guests. Later, the Domers had a rinkydinky high school band play for them.
Domer fans were scattered about the stadium, and a couple of them sat behind me. They left at the start of the fourth quarter.
Later, we celebrated at the Won Kok restaurant in Chinatown, which soon filled up with Trojan fans.
I would have left, too. Nothing like watching a losing game — those minutes are LONG. Congrats, tho, to the Trojans.
I never meant to imply that admitting ND would by itself make the Big Ten equal to the SEC or Big Twelve. A twelve member Big Ten would allow the conference to restructure itself into two six team divisions - and that would make for increased competition within the conference, which should improve the level of play. A twelve member Big Ten would have great geographic unity - unlike the ACC, whose map has the coherence of a modern art painting. A restructured Big Ten would dominate the center of the country, much as the SEC dominates the South, the PAC Ten the west coast, and the Big Twelve the area of the country from the Rio Grande northward.
