What qualifications does his kid have?? Aren’t there congressmen, retired governors, state Senators and Delagates who would be more qualified and who would probably scream bloody murder at a line jumper??
It would look absolutely ridiculous to appoint his kid. It would look soooo bad. Make him come back and get a job.
The writer is saying that the new governor, as his first act of business, would be to appoint a Senator who doesn't want the job, and just wants to be a bench-warmer? Is that what they expect of their governors in Delaware?
And what if it is true? What would that say about the representation that Delaware can expect in the Senate for the next two years? What if the appointed Senator decides that he likes the job after all? All of this is supposed to make it easier for Beau Biden to run in 2010?
I'd think that appointing his son to the Senate now would override his tour in Iraq. Is Biden afraid of the Rangel charge that the elites are protecting their children from serving in wars? If the current governor were to appoint Beau Biden if he wants to go to Iraq, why would she appoint somebody who says he doesn't want to serve? And if he still was appointed, there is nothing complelling him to accept the appointment at all. He could still say he'd rather do his tour in Iraq and then run when he returns.
