Is there no requirement for Commander-In-Chief?

No, there isn't. No elected President has ever had to show a birth certificate.

Obama won't be the first.

Has there ever been a question about eligibility before? Most, if not all in the modern era (when birth certificates existed at all) were clearly over 35 when they took office. They had long records, with a few exceptions, and in many cases long family histories of service to the nation, or at least in public life. Few, if any, "came out of nowhere" like The One, and so there was no doubt that they had resided in the US for 14 years. AFAIK, there was never any evidence or indication that any of them were born outside the country of a non citizen father, either. (There were *candidates* who were born outside the country of citizen parents).

This case is pretty unique.
