It is really none of my business if Obama smokes. Don’t think it would be a good thing as far as children looking to the prez as a role model, though. But I just really don’t care if he smokes or not.

I’ve always wondered why the media gives BO a pass on his smoking. This sums it up very well.
To: Bill Dupray
Let him smoke. I want to see him standing outside at least 50 feet away from any White House entrances when he does so. Maybe set up a Presidential lean-to.
To: Bill Dupray
I don’t think WE should have to pay for HIS medical expenses if he SMOKES! Nuff Said.

From Michael Kinsley's quote: "Obamas steely calm is now one of our countrys major assets. If he needs an occasional cigarette to preserve it, lets hand him an ashtray, offer him a light and look the other way."
Gag. "Obama's steely calm"? Did he have to scoot Chris Matthews aside for this little leg hump? I guess that's how the left felt about Clinton having hot and cold running interns, but at the same time enforced a thousand and one sexual harrassment laws against the rest of the population.

Yes. We are probably in for monthly Fire Side Chats that the loving MSM will telecast to the country. Comrade Obama will be sitting on the couch in the Oval Office, surrounded by his Gestapo policemen in their black uniforms, a bottle of cheap ripple wine in one hand, and a smoke in the other. Chatting with his public, telling us what rights he is going to strip from us this month, what new taxes he thinks he should put in. Yes, they even have the technology to place that bright and shinny halo over his head during his fire side chat. sarcasm and puke buttons still on

During the Lewinski affair, I was really upset that Clinton was smoking (using) a cigar in the White House while the rest of us couldn’t smoke (use) tobacco withing 25 feet of a government building.

It’s the people’s house, so I say he smokes outside. And, if he starts a fire at the WH, he pays for the damage - no insurance claims allowed.

I just hope he doesn’t stink up the oval office.

The point is that lefties are violently intolerant of smokers everyone who doesn't think exactly the way they do about everything.

Time for a game of “What if?”—the following is not a real article, but hey, “what if?”
From the New York Times
October 15th, 2008
Jill Breland lies in her hospital bed and painfully reaches for the help button. She is down to 86 pounds and can no longer get out of bed on her own power. The tumor has spread beyond her lungs and is invading healthy tissue throughout her body. The doctors give her three months to live, but that might be generous.
Her eight-year old daughter Morgan sits in the hospital room with a coloring book. “Mommy, when you feel better, can we go to the zoo again?” Jill fights back tears and smiles and says she will try to get better.
Like many victims of lung cancer, Jill was a smoker. “I was thinking of quitting back in 2001.” she said. “But I said to myself ‘if president Bush smokes, why can’t I?’
Jill voted for Bush back in 2001, but deeply regrets the vote now. “As president, he should set a good example.” she says. “I think of all the children who look up to the president. Thousands will die because he inspired them to take up smoking.”
Little Morgan is more blunt. “The President is bad because he smokes. My mommy smoked and it made her really sick...”
etc., etc.

No more so than the intolerant righties, as proven on many threads here on FR --- including this one.

I have no problem with Obamessiah smoking if he wants to. It’s probably the only thing I could like about him.
However, the One missed a golden opportunity to stand for an American minority by not lighting up on the stage and reminding people tobacco is legal and smokers pay large amounts of tax to the treasuries.
In fact, given the liberals love of tax dollars from other people, shouldn’t smokers and drinkers be revered by them?
I guess it is only our money they worship.
