” It has very little to do with what States are better-suited for those base”
That is a total non-sequiter. It doesn’t excuse liberals saying military spending is welfare spending. If that were the case then we’d claim everyone assigned to bases located in our State as our State’s citizens and make them pay us income taxes and we could then refuse to protect your State. I mean, if you don’t want to take the hit along with us for military spending then to Hell with you. We’ll keep those military assests all for ourselves since we take the blame for the spending.
You have it slightly wrong. Military spending isn’t welfare spending. However, placement of bases and resources is not always determined by the best location, but who owes who a favor in Congress.
You were trying to make the argument, it seems, that the States that have lots of military bases got those bases because they're the best-suited. That's not the case and you know it- they got those bases because their politicians have a lot of pull, in many cases. Let's not pretend Virginia is doing something noble by selflessly allowing the Federal governmemt to plow billions of dollars into naval bases, any more than Maryland is a martyr for letting the Feds spend billions on NIH and its sattelites,
