Especially an armed group. Church or not.

Glitter by the bucket load?

I doubt it was actually in buckets, but I imagine that folks shouting about gays and starting to toss something from a bucket could be taken as an attack using a biological weapon (aids tainted blood for example).

Seems like a pretty foolish thing for them to do as I imagine their attack (which it was) may have been easily viewed early on to be an actual physical, violent attack. (And, if with various teams surrounding your congregation as the article states, do you really want to wait and see if they are going to do you physical harm? I suppose you have to or you’ll end up in jail.)

Also, not so sure how persuasive their method was if they were trying to get the congregation to be more tolerant of them.
