“I finished adjusting the seat and turned to walk around the back of my vehicle to close the passenger door so we could proceed to our destination. As I walked in front of the young man, he inquired, “Where are you coming from?” At that time I made the decision to invoke and refuse to waive all of my constitutional rights and privileges—including being forced to talk to a functionary of the state (See: The Police Contact). I informed him that where I was coming from was none of his “bleeping” business.”

I’m not LEO lover at all, but it sounds like to me that you elevated this situation from a casual question by the LEO to outright confrontation. Do you have chip on your shoulder?

Most cops are losers, period. They are supposed to protect and serve, but all they do these days is raise funds for their cities or counties. They used to ride in traffic to keep people safe from speeding, but now they have undercover cars and they hide and sneak to catch people speeding to raise money. The seat belt laws are a joke designed to also raise money, because have you ever seen any school district required to have seat belts in all school buses? No, you haven’t because what good would it do to ticket the people they are raising money for.

on numerous occassions i have approached people in the course of my duties and inquired as to their activities.

if they were not compelled to answer, said nothing, or walked away, that was their right. most of the time i simply want them to move along anyway. but that's how it goes here in NYC.

that being said, this guy's attitude can take a hike. if he had simply said, "officer, no offense, but i am on private property and unless you have reasonable suspicion that my wife or i have committed a crime i would prefer not to answer any of your questions" he would have gotten a big "so long, sir" from me.

yeah this "officer" seems like a tool, but common courtesy should be extended to everyone, cop or otherwise. sounds like this ol gunny needs a lesson in manners. i bet he's a real hit at parties.

"I informed him that where I was coming from was none of his "bleeping" business."

The man qualifies for the anal orifice of the year award.
