I Always Suspected George Washington Was Selfish

As the election draws nears, it seems that O’Biden can’t help but dole out clues as to who they really are. Those clues include:

· O’Biden telling us that paying more taxes is "patriotic;"

· O’Biden lowering the income level as to who is going to suffer their tax increase from $250,000 to $150,000 and now perhaps $120,000 – and that’s just what is advertised; and

· O’Biden telling us that our desire not to pay higher taxes is selfish.

There are so many points to be made here, but I shall try to confine it to just two:

1. Raising Tax Rates Doesn’t Work. Raising tax rates has NEVER, in American History, led to higher tax revenue over time. When Wilson did it, it led to a recession and lower revenues within 2 years. The same held true for Hoover, FDR, Truman, Bush Sr., and Clinton (1999 recession). In California, the 1991 tax increase led to less tax revenues as well over the next 3 years. History is similarly littered with improvident leaders who assumed that you could raise the costs (taxes) of something (income) and assume it would not have a negative effect. It always has - it always will.

So, even if it was patriotically virtuous to accept higher tax rates – it is a dumb policy because it doesn’t work as advertised.

2. Selfish. According to O’Bama, for John McCain to resist a dumb, non-working policy, it is making a virtue out of selfishness. Such is the language of a socialist/collectivist/Marxist plain and simple – a spread the wealther – someone who believes that government can do better than Liberty. That is exactly not what George Washington – or the rest of our Patriot’s- believed. I know this is news to the Left, but nevertheless, the
