Million Dollar Question
Former Fetus

Posted on 10/24/2008 12:51:56 PM PDT by Former Fetus

As an adoptive South Carolinian, I have been looking forward to the day when I could vote Sister Lindsay out of office! My husband is aghast that I would consider voting for a democrat and refuses to listen to what Bob Conley stands for. I know a Democrat-controlled congress is a nightmare, but I feel like this is not your run-of-the-mill democrat. I think that Conley is more likely to vote the way I feel than that good-for-nothing RINO. OTOH, I don't want to start a second Civil War, right here, at home. I would love to hear y'alls opinions on this issue.

Vote your conscience. I often vote for conservative democrats in local races and frankly don’t care what anybody thinks.

I’m not in SC, and I haven’t heard of Mr. Conley before. Maybe if you could tell us some of the ways you think he would better represent your views than your encumbent, it would help me offer advise.

Zell Miller was a pretty cool democrat...

Would you rather have Harry Reid with a bulletproof 60 vote or more majority in the Senate to ensure all of the socialist acts of an Obama Administration gets passed?

Right now if you read Real Clear it’s shaping up for the Dems to have a high 50’s count in the Senate.

60 votes could also impeach and remove any and all conservative Federal Judges.

Graham is not the best we have but it beats the alternative. And that’s a sad state of affairs.

Uh-huh. Just like the "conservative Dems" elected to congress in 2006 would be independent votes -- until every single one of them lined-up behind Pelosi and Reid, their tongues out, panting like puppies begging to be scratched.

Adding more Democrats to Congress is sheer insanity. They ALL lie. Graham is better than any of them because they always go along with their party unless there is some self interest which stops them. Corruption is rampant throughout their ENTIRE 200+ yr history. The party was FOUNDED on cheating and has done so THROUGHOUT its history.

Please examine its history. Big city politicians created it and machine politics is its mainstay to this day.

Other politicians are threatened by the media and browbeaten into unwise positions which you hate. Remove the power of the Democrat media and they will almost automatically become more conservative because they won’t be immediately and massively attacked for being conservative.

No Democrat will help beat back the Treason media and even compromised Republicans are still more its enemy.

He's pro-life, pro-drilling (even in Anwar), anti-illegal immigration (no benefits to illegals, build the fence, deport them), pro-traditional marriage, pro-second amendment rights... Hey, I don't know why he's running as a democrat, other than in sc it seems to be a sure way to get votes from those who vote straight tickets. But you don't have to take my word for it, click HERE and see for yourself.

Exactly. If the democrat you're talking about is a good conservative and not a party line democrat I say go for it.

Even the best Democrats vote with their leaders when they get to Washington or they get an office in the basement and no committees. Check how the conservative demos voted when they got to Washington last time - it was pathetic.

As my tag line says"Don't confuse the Bushies with the dumb Republicans." I would also add don't confuse democrats with the socialists who have taken over the democrat party, and run with a "D" behind their name instead of an "S"

In our congress the majority party controls the agenda and the debate. It doesn’t matter if the guy is pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling, anti-tax and for small government. The fact is that the overwhelming majority in his party is the opposite of all these. Once in office he will either change his stance and vote with the majority on these matters or he will be marginalized. Either way he is one more democrat counted toward a majority and in the senate this is crucial due to the different rules they have from the House.

Graham is a “moderate” Republican. He is a pain-in-the-neck at times just as is McCain and a handful of others in the GOP caucus. But as far as I know he has generally been supportive of the GOP leadership which, in the past two years, has blocked several democrat measures by use of the filibuster. So he is important and especially so this election cycle because if the GOP loses the power of the filibuster they lose on EVERY bill that the left wants to ram through.

As far as I am concerned it would be just fine if Graham lost an election - but only in the primary to another Republican.

Most politicians are liars. Especially dems. I consider dems to be the Party of Evil and would not cast a vote at all before I’d vote for one of them.

If he’s an incumbent, he’s tainted.

It’s no longer Republican vs. Democrat, it’s two-faced, lying, cheating, pandering and self-important gasbags vs. those who haven’t had the chance to become that, yet.

I’ve already voted (absentee). I’m a lifelong Republican, but this time I voted for the Democrat challenger, who is pro-life,pro Second Amendment, and a longtime businesswoman who has had to make a few payrolls in her time.

And if she doesn’t live up to expectations, I’ll boot HER out next time.

Never, EVER, vote for a liberal in conservative’s clothing!

That's where my problem begun. In SC if you vote in the republican primary, you cannot vote in any of the local races because everybody runs as a democrat. I wanted to kick Lindsay's b__t but it would have meant allowing some you-know-what to become sheriff. Every election year hubby and I stop talking to each other. I want to vote in the "big" races, and I want to vote my conscience, like when I voted for Allan Keyes knowing he did not stand a chance, but I thought he was the right man. Hubby cares about the local races, the ones that affect us more directly. Last primary I gave in, voted in the local democratic primary, and swore to take on Lindsay on November.

Either way he is one more democrat counted toward a majority

That's what hubby says, and I don't understand it. What do you mean he would be one more democrat counted? Wouldn't it depend on HOW he votes? Please, explain this, because this may be the key to deciding.

I think it’s crazy to vote for helping to hand the next president a Rat majority, much less a SUPERMAJORITY.

Voting for your congresscritters has to be viewed in light not only of the candidates, but even more important is the fact that unless we all vote for whatever Republican is running in our district/state, Republicans will become a permanent minority.

When you vote for a less than stellar Republican, you are still helping to compose a Republican majority, which then provides the opportunity for more conservative Republicans to get into positions of leadership and influence in Congress.

Conley doesn’t stand a chance. Little Lord Tinkerbelle has him outspent a million to one. But a protest vote or two or three against Flimsey Grahamesty just might serve notice that he is not universally beloved and may just have to listen to the people for a change (he and his staff do not deign to respond to emails from the Great Unwashed here in the Palmetto State).

(Since 2002 they’ve had to lash down Ol’ Strom so he can’t spin.)
