I think actually his name was fairly common and therein lies the problem.
The fact that he changed his name to a Muslim name later in life, which would automatically be construed as him accepting the Muslim faith.
You may be on to something there.
I knew of a family (didn't know them personally, but someone that I worked with did know them well) that became Muslim, and the father legally changed his name and the names of all the children to Muslim names. We've seen lots of sports figures do it, too.
After all the denials from Barry Dunham of never having been Muslim, a name change after adulthood would demonstrate what a liar he is. So what else is he hiding?
