Don’t think HRC could take BHO’s slot at this point. Two weeks before, and way past any filing deadlines, yer just not going to get the ballots changed beyond striking out the ineligible candidate’s name. McC wins practically by default, and an election is required (speaking of POTUS, not the other items on the ballot everyone always forgets about) because there ARE others on the ballot, even if they have no chance of winning. Biden _might_ be able to move up the ticket, and bring HRC on board as #2, but we’ve long been over her taking that position.

I do think the American people deserve to know the truth even more than Kerry's military records because it IS a constitutional issue. That wasn't; it was merely a question of honesty and character. Now no matter what happens, there will be a cloud of suspicion, even if unwarranted.
His Kenyan grandmother and family can be discredited in different ways, but that could look ugly and cause trouble. What are the primary sources for their reporting of the relatives' claim he was born in Kenya? There could be other explanations for that story.
I read the other day they can find divorce records but no marriage. Well I don't honestly care if they were married or not because it's so common now, and I have it in my own family. I wouldn't make an issue of just that. But if his father was already married to another wife(ves) in Kenya, wouldn't that nullify any marriage that did take place even for a civil marriage? So that has never made sense to me how they got around that. Yes, they could have given untruthful information on the real birth certificate. Whether that would have been perjury or not, I don't know. Can a man married to someone else give a child his name on a birth certificate?
So it boils down to even if his mother wasn't married to his Kenyan father (and if not, why the need for divorce?), the only thing left with that is where was he actually born? If in HI which I bought into just like most, I would still think he would qualify under the constitution. But if born abroad, and other laws were in effect at the time, I don't know what would happen with that concerning his mother.
I suppose those other questions about dual Indonesian citizenship and application for naturalization as a result of that marriage (I've seen no proof that she actually married Soetoro either, don't care), only care about the eligibility issues.
It does seem to be nasty business, but they made a big deal about McCain, and he had to come clean, so the other side ought to have to as well.
Even when I thought Arnie was on our team, when it was brought up to change the constitution so he could run for president, I was adamantly against it, because it does offer some protection against any foreign-born national usurping the American presidency now or in the future because of concerns for loyalty. Back in the 1800's, in Illinois anyway, English immigrants had to sign an oath of allegiance and forswear loyalty to the Queen. Maybe people would see that as silly now, but that's the way it was, and I happen to have a copy of that from my geneological pursuits even though I'm not sure it applies to the right ancestor because the name was very common.
Whatever it is, they will smear and spin their way out of it, aided and abetted by the media.
If I really believed it didn't matter as a constitutional issue only, I wouldn't even be concerned with any of this even though he is not my candidate. I don't think the motive to be out to get him as a possible smear is as important and protecting the consitution and the necessary legal proof.
Of course there are other peripheral issues further along in his life where records are missing or we haven't been privy to them that I would consider appropos. If he did use other names and falsified his application to the bar, that could be seen as perjury and disqualifying as well.
Any scandalous scenario/outcome that discourages democratic turnout, and helps the GOP downticket, would be welcome to say the least.
