Actually the photos shown in the blog are dated, and quite a bit of renovation is being done in the area. Google has recent aerial and street level photos which show the changes. For example, the building with the collapsing roof has a new roof in the Google aerial images, and you can see what look like workman's trucks in the cleared yard out back. (Note that in the Google aerial photo the building on the left is the building which has the collapsed roof in the blog.) The Google street level photos show brand new windows in the upper floors - complete with their labels still visible - and a dumpster out back.
The Grove Parc Plaza apartments themselves look like a typical (which means dreadful to those not used to such developments) Chicago apartment complex in a poor Chicago neighborhood. There are plenty that are worse.
Bottom line -- there are plenty of legitimate criticisms of Sen. Obama, no need to waste time on old pictures of an apartment complex. That just plays into the hands of the other side.
