No. This was for real. Alan Greenspan confirmed a few days ago when he said he had relied on “self interest” from big banks. Alan was a protege of of Ayn Rand.

I do think that capitalism has been allowed to run amok becuase of fear of gov’t involvement. The problem is, that Big Business is almost as bad as Big Gov’t. I think conservatives are caught up in the worship of business and forget that you often find those with anti-social personality disorders in politics and business, not just criminal activity.

No. Capitalism started to be degraded after the 1929 stock market crash and the era of government involvement in business began. It grew worse when various businesses obtained subsidies (agriculture, for example), which led to earmarks and government providing funding and tax incentives for special interest groups.

Don't misunderstand and think I am against all regulation. We have to take care of our environment, as well as the truly infirm. But we are so far away from capitalism today-- it is a shadow of what Adam Smith wrote about, and none of us today really experience it.
