It wasn't US Law, it was Indonesian Law. They did not recognize Dual Citizenship. So to become a Citizen of Indonesia, he would have had to have a tie to Indonesia, being adopted by his step-father, and rescinding his US citizenship.

It wasn't US Law, it was Indonesian Law. In case you haven't noticed, we're not in Indonesia, and we're not electing the President of Indonesia. Whatever some mudhole of a country on the other side of the planet says about citizenship _DOES NOT CONTROL_ U.S. citizenship. Jeez, I never thought I'd see so many Freepers ready to surrender national sovereignty.
If Fidel Castro tomorrow declared John McCain a citizen of Cuba, and rescinded all his other citizenships, would that make him ineligible to be elected?
