The ONLY reason for buying small sized sidearms is for ease of concealment and continious carry.

If you don’t expect to carry this weapon all day long or when you are wearing summer clothing during hot weather, then I would suggest buying the next size up (a K Model)which is a six shot.

The K Model weighs more and at the end of a day, you will know this quite well. A smaller five shot (a J Model) that you easily carry with you is a much better defensive weapon than a beautiful, nice shooting six shot that you left in the car or at home because, well, it’s just too heavy or it’s too darn big or I can’t conceal it with these clothes.

If you buy a small two shot derringer and keep it with you 24 hours a day, you will be better protected than owning a gunsafe that holds every handgun sold. Size is important when it comes to handguns. You want one that you will keep with you.

Now as far as your shoulder holster goes have you ever used one of these? http://www.c-rusty.com/pages/holsters/large/brownshoe.htm Designed especially for the J Model size handguns. You shouldn’t buy a handgun because you have a holster that it will fit in!

I laughed when I read your last sentence. As you might imagine, I am a little attached to my Bianchi but I do get your point! And this is the only holster I’ve ever had. It’s small and pretty easy to conceal. I’ll have a look at the ones you mentioned tomorrow. Keep in mind that my main intent is home safety and frankly I’m not sure how to secure a location aside from having it bedside at night.

One of my favorite autographed photos is Charleston Heston holding his shotgun over his shoulder with the breach open.

It has a place on honor in my hallway leading to my study.

The best, yes, the absolute best place to buy holsters is in the pawn shops! Without a doubt they have the best selections and the best prices.

Never been in a pawn shop but I’ll keep that in mind.

If you live in LA you’ve got a lot more chance getting shot by a gang member, illegal alien or Islamic terrorist than Sarah Palin. Cling to them shotguns. You may need them.

Somehow I suspected that you hadn’t. LOL But you can go into a pawnshop, rummage through their used holster box and walk out with $500 to $700 worth of holsters for less than $100. They aren’t a hot selling item, normally.

Strangely, Obama reminds me of Bogart in that shot. <— which is the nicest thing I’ve ever said about Obama.
