Ah yes, the famous picture of Killer Gore in RVN. E5 in 11 months, early out for divinity school and he dropped out (flunked?)of that too. I guess he’s checking the strap, hope there wasn’t a loose round in that chamber. Judging from the pack he’s carrying he must have been be a on a long range recon. mission. Nah, maybe he was just carrying the mimeograph machine he used for his Bn./Bde. newspaper?

Maybe. I’m sure there are Freepers good at photoshop detective work who could tell us which one is the fake.

I’m leaning (today) towards the S&W 342 PD. I’ll let you know what I decide.

IMO, that’s a good choice. I would add a pair of Crimson Trace Laser grips to it. In the dark, you will be able to put all five rounds in a coffee cup 10 yards away with a little practice.

Do you have a CCW or are you planning on getting one? Or to be more direct, are you planning on carrying it concealed with or without a permit.

If the answer is no, then I don’t reccommend a shrouded hammer. Internal hammers are great if you plan on keeping the gun in your pocket or purse. They don’t require any thoughts about protecting the hammer from snagging on your clothing. External hammers allow you to make much smoother shots.

When you go to the gun store, ask the clerk if you are allowed to dry fire the revolvers. He’ll probably say no but if he say yes, you’ll see exactly what I mean.

I hadn’t thought about a CCW because I don’t think I will need to wear it where I live. I may give it further thought, in case I change my mind—and if it’s available in Illinois? Then what happens in a state where the law says you can’t conceal carry?

I’m happy to be going to the store with this information as it will make things a lot easier. And I plan to make sure I can dry fire so I can confirm what you’ve told me. Thanks again.

I’ve got Pachmayr grips on my Beretta and I like the way they feel. How would you compare the ones you recommend?

The sad thing is, useful idiots like this and most of the media maggots vote. If this is representative of their intelligence, then I can understand why the socialists go on murdering rampages after they subjugate a country, as we saw in Vietnam, Cambodia, Darfur, etc.

Just called Shooting Sports Unlimited and they determined (from the S&W site) that the model I pointed to is no longer available. He also pointed out that I may want to see how much “punch” it has before I commit to a buy, since the lightweight models don’t absorb as much as the heavier handguns. Also, sorry about the double post.

Typically, the frame is held in the dominant (stronger) hand, and the slide in the non-dominant (weaker) hand. Transferring the job of “holding still” to the non-dominant hand will typically allow a more efficient application of power to the action.

Look carefully at the picture at the top of this website.
http://www.crimsontrace.com/

Do you see the thin red line that extends from the handgun the seated man is holding? That's what CT Laser grips do. They put out a thin red line that shows the point of impact of your bullet.

Here's another URL to look at that may help you. http://www.crimsontrace.com/Home/Products/SmithWesson/tabid/199/Default.aspx

They may not allow you to dry fire new weapons so just ask if they have a used one in the same model for you to test.

Thanks for the explanation. I hadn't thought of it in those terms. It makes perfect sense now.

I checked and they do have some handguns you can fire at their range. Sounded real anxious to get my Beretta on trade.

And it’s these people who insist on “reasonable restrictions” on RKBA.

Let’s insist on a “reasonable restriction”: if someone can’t look at that picture and say whether what Sarah’s doing is “safe” or not, they are reasonably restricted from saying anything about the 2nd Amendment.

I won’t make a purchase the same day I try the various handguns. I’ll see what they have, then check back here to get feedback. I would like to get something that fits my shoulder holster, so I may go for a larger revolver instead of the one I was looking at earlier.
