Obama the Orator, No Substitute for Substance

I actually heard someone say the other day, that they were voting for Obama because he is such a good speaker. People, perhaps many people, are voting for Obama because they like not necessarily what he has to say, but how he says it. Is this not frightening? Does it not concern you that this man could be elected because there are enough people who would vote for him based solely on his oratory?

There is a difference between someone who speaks well, and someone who leads well, they are not indicators of the other, they do not lead to one another, nor are they mutually exclusive. Lets look at some examples:

Ronald Reagan, both spoke well, and led well. Great man, great orator.

Bubba Clinton, spoke well, led poorly, he had a fondness for cigars, and was totally devoid of morals.

Hitler, great speaker, so powerful in his words, he probably had all the German actors fawning all over him. To completely understate it, not a good leader.

Moses, amazing leader, led the Jews out of bondage. Great speaker? No, he told God he was slow of speech, and didn't feel like he was able to lead, because of his percieved weakness.

George Bush, not a great orator, but a great leader? Oh yes, he is a great leader, and history will shine kindly on him and all he has done for our country.

Jimmy Carter, poor speaker, poor leader.

Kim Jong Il, great speaker? I don't know, maybe. Psycho? Absolutely.

So, as you can see by these empirical examples, being a good leader does not make one a good speaker. Conversely, being a good speaker does not make one a good leader. They are separate abilities, and very, very unequal in importance and value.

WHAT ORATOR? He sounds like a nervous jackass. What is sooooooooo great about his oratories? The stuttering, the lack of specifics, and the same tired points what is there to gush over?

Actually Bill Clinton was an awful speaker, if we're talking about oratory.

His 1996 acceptance speech, "Bridge to the Future," did what it was supposed to, but the rest of his speeches and his delivery weren't particularly impressive.

Apparently he was better at informal communication, and of course, the "one on one."

And why always drag in Hitler? That's where a lot of people tune out or turn against one's argument.

They presume that Hitler gets brought up because one doesn't really have a very good case. Godwin's Law and all that.

Well, this is the society that can take a plain ordinary woman and market her to become a movie, music and TV star. Marketing is the world we live in and it is showing.

Well, he was a good enough speaker to keep himself in office, and “convice” those impeaching him that he had done nothing wrong. Also, I was speaking more to his ability to flatter, and his ability to play the game of politics in his speeches and personal interactions.

I bring up Hitler because he is the best (in recent memory) example of people being caught up in this cult of personality phenomenon. Who better to show the dangers, even if the dangers and risks are not equal?

Great speaker? Not even with a teleprompter. He comes across as phony as it gets.

And that voice? (fingernails on the blackboard)

I haven’t even gotten to the impromptu stuff yet . . .uh, er, ah, hmmmm . . . .oh yeah, he’s out of his league there.

I am always amazed at the people who claim that ZeroBama is a great orator and chalk it up to the fact that orators such as Everitt Dirkson are no longer on the public stage. He.was.an.orator.

ZeroBama is average for a teleprompter speaker and I am better than him in an off the cuff speech.

0bama is not a great speaker. He can read but his delivery is flat and he drones on and on top of that his voice is bothersome and unappealing.

If he was in the radio business he would have been fired long ago.

Well, is it any surprise? We need to wake McCain up (he actually looks like he may nod off any minute lately)
and tell him he has an obligation as our candidate to get off his duff and fight back.

To h*ll with bipartisian BS, to h*ll with PC, to h*ll with ‘conducting a respectful campaign’!
Respectful campaigning went out the window with Obama’s nasty, ‘lipstick on a pig’ and ‘You can wrap AN OLD FISH in a piece of paper called change. It’s still going to stink after eight years.’ Take off the gloves, McCain!
Hit the Marxist/Muslim hard with Ayers, Acorn, Violation of Logan Act, Campaigning for Odinga!!

He would be laughed out of the studio.

McCain is too soft spoken, too monotone, he speaks and you snoooooz. Obama speaks and gestures, he speaks to his audience and is animated. As a military person, McCain ,just doesn’t have that command voice or presence that motivates. Sorry, if this offends anyone but that’s how I see it. I’ll vote for him because he seems down to earth and honest.

Moses did not have the gift of being articulate, but, he used his brother Aaron to do his speaking for him. He was no less of a leader because of this. Maybe Gov. Palin can be McCain’s Aaron.

Interesting point. Conversely, Perhaps Biden can be Obama’s Dan Quayle.

You are right, he has no oration. People don’t care about vague words of “change” and BS. They want real results, real policy and not some psychobabble that teaches nothing and only satisfies unrepenting crackheads.

Obama epitomizes the muslim rat who tries to adjust but does not want to learn, flip floping around a maze, sticking his head to his butt, and finding all kinds of excuses so long he has not yet the power to outright oppress and devour with his sick litter of rats the rest of the nation. There is no oration in that squicky adjusting flip floping rat.

Simply put, liberals especially are prone to STYLE over SUBSTANCE or IOW it is NOT what you say or believe as long as you LOOK and SOUND good saying it.

That being said a young Democrat today on FOX's live streaming "Strategy Room" was asked why she was voting for OBAMA and her answer stunned me.

She said her and EVERYONE she knows that is her age grew up on the internet and that the WORLD wants OBAMA and that our standing is the world is awful and his election will elevate that standing.

IOW the world thinks we suck and therefore we must suck and the only way we won't suck is if we elect someone the WORLD doesn't think sucks!!

A true college graduate nitwit, indoctrinated by the left. A truly lost soul!!
