No one is really talking about the debate on Friday thanks to the financial crisis, but perhaps even more important than the hourly watching of the U.S. stock markets, Friday’s first presidential debate could play a huge role in determining who is to become the next president. If you take a very-high overview of the presidential polls since at least August, Team Obama has lead the way most of the time, except for a GOP convention bounce that looked convincing, but fell apart within one week. Since the beginning of the month, Obama’s lead has been small (1-4 points), but nonetheless consistent in the popular vote polls. Relying less on facts than on historical observations, increasingly, it looks like the debates - and perhaps the first debate on Friday - could be the game changer. I get the feeling that a large majority of the U.S. public is willing to lease the White House to Barack Obama beginning in January, but because the candidate has been unable to close the deal, part of that large majority is very, very hesitant to jump on the new horse, hence the reason that Obama’s lead remains very, very small. Quite frankly, these voters like the message (as screwed up as us conservatives know the message to be), but don’t necessarily trust the speaker, as of yet.
However, as much change as McCain/Palin would indeed bring to Washington versus Bush/Cheney, to casual voters who don’t get all excited over the latest presidential tracking poll, and only watch the race sporadically, change is Barack Obama and not John McCain, and change is what the voter wants right now. Therefore, Friday is seal-the-deal time for Barack Obama, who, if he gives a good-to-great performance on Friday, will eliminate any further concerns by enough voters that will give the win to Obama. If, however, Obama’s performance does not quell voter concerns, John McCain will have a real opening to win this election.
The debates, therefore, in my opinion, are all about Barack Obama who needs to close the deal, and only if he fails there, would McCain have a realistic chance of winning.
Well “always wrong” Biden is on tv now giving a foreign policy speech, right before Obama’s foreign policy debate...I think I saw Hussein in the audience with a notepad....without his teleprompter whatever will he do???
Joe Biden is doing a 'hatchet job' foreign policy speech on McCain right now on Fox cable. If he says 'Ladies & Gentleman' one more time - I may have to do something drastic in order to keep listening!!

And the one and only thing that Obama can do while the country is in crisis is what?.....work on his campaign, unless of course someone forces him to really do something. Someone above his pay grade,
