The word “Aryan” was coined by F. Max Muller to refer to language groups. It has nothing to do with race. In the runup to the Civil War Muller saw a poster using it to refer to race and hit the roof. Unfortunately the vulgar public made it into something it’s not and that continues until this day. By the same token the Arabs claim “anti-Semitism” refers to them too, but that was a specific word, a euphemism, invented in Germany for Jew bashing. Semite is also a language group.
