No, she recruited her own brother and was convicted of typing up her husband's reports. She could have spared herself the death penalty if she had come clean.

I thought that she brought David in on it.

In any case her husband and her brother were both deeply involved - there is no way she could not have known.

When Sobel finally confessed recently, the MSM tried to spin it to claim Ethel was innocent. Unfortunately for the left, it’s already well established that Ethel was running the show.
