This entire post could've been done just with links to the MSNBC rumor machine. But I'm kind of choked up after last night's bittersweet news - think of all the great times that now we'll never have. Plus, focusing exclusively on one source would underplay the breadth and depth of these people's pathetic melodramatics:
1. Denial - This was probably the most surreal stage, with Obama campaign eventually elevating unblinking denial into a campaign smear. The Atlantic ran an article entitled "the Eagleton Scenario" and the NYT published an op-ed gently and kingly suggesting that Palin "should withdraw" to avoid humiliation. InTrade shares on Palin being replaced spiked to almost 15. When that didn't work, the left seamlessly transitioned to a different wishful denial.

Certainly someone ought to be able to put Obama’s head on the figure in “The Scream.”

“The typical Seattle lib I work next to on friday was claiming Palin was going to be a disaster for the GOP”
You only work with one Seattle Lib? Lucky. I’m the only conservative in a cubicle of nine Seattle area Libs. Two of them very extreme Che Guevara t-shirt wearing Libs. All were laughing the morning McCain slected her. They aren’t laughing anymore. They been looking kind of glum. And I’m lovign it.
Well I work at a financial related company so we are one of the few conservative alamos in this city. Oh we do have a plenty of libs over here, but the one next to me loves to brag about it. I tend to play it lowkey because Seattle is also a very PC town and I know that discussing politics can easily get you in trouble with HR. I try to show respect for those around me with their political views, no matter how bad they are. I find it amusing that he knows how I stand, and while he’s always shooting his mouth off about the Bush administration, he got massivly pwned in the 2004 and 2006 elections with his predictions.
