Wishes really do come true. Why it was just yesterday when I asked the political gods to have liberal Hollywood to do something stupid that would help our side in the election, and guess what…? Ladies and Gents, courtesy of Russell Brand, a self-confessed sex-addict, come this gift aimed right at the demographic Obama’s so sure will put him over the top:

If his aim was to be noticed by America, Russell Brand more than achieved his goal last night as he ranted that President Bush was a “retarded cowboy” while hosting the MTV awards.

The British comedian, who is a virtual unknown in America, left the crème of the music world stunned as he championed Barack Obama, ran down George Bush and made lewd jokes about the Christian pop band Jonas Brothers.

Ignoring the renowned patriotism of Americans, Brand told the Hollywood audience they must vote for Barrack Obama “on behalf of the world”, before insinuating that America had lower standards than Britain when it came to picking leaders.

“Some people, I think they’re called racists, say America is not ready for a black president.

“But I know America to be a forward thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years?

“We were very impressed. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.”

Members of the studio audience, including Britney Spears, who was making a much-hyped comeback appearance, and Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, looked horrified at Brand’s jokes.

I read that online this morning. What strikes me is that due to the liberalization of First Amendment rights, society has allowed for disrespect for people in authority and called it "free speech."

It's not free speech, it's "mean-spirited speech" and it is a disgrace for this Nation to allow such flagrant hate-filled comments to be broadcast without some type of rebuttal about "free" doesn't mean "licentious" and that people in authority deserve respect, even if you disagree with them.

This type of blasphemous talk would not have been allowed in public when I was growing up back in the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. It's uncouth and besmirches the USofA.

Sarcasm, satire, jokes, are fine. But that thin line between those and disrespectful hate-filled, mean-spirited words must not be breached.

And I, as the mother of three children (two of whom have Down syndrome) appreciate it! As do many other families of individuals who were simply born with the hand God dealt them. They live, learn, and love just like the rest of us. Only it’s somewhat easier for them to love. I guess whatever they seem to lack in intelligence is more than made up for in their willingness to accept others exactly as they are. I can’t tell you what a breakthrough it is for me to read a post like this. I sure wish there were more people who felt like you do. God bless you.
