The author would have one believe that racial equality under the law was the countrys downfall. Actually, its Marxism that has destroyed the nation. If the government, regardless of race, were to apply market-oriented economics, strong private property rights, and a combination of law & order principles with strong legal protections, they would be amazed how quickly things woudl improve. It's not about race, it's about what happens when the underclass becomes a voting majority, and decide to loot the middle class for their own benefits. Once the looting party starts, restoring "strong private property rights" means that the looters get less loot, and they will not vote for that.

The catch is that for years, the underclass was the product of established law, namely apartheid. There was little to no opportunity to rise out of that underclass. You’re correct about looting the middle class, but in the U.S., the upper class has also done that (the reckless & predatory behavior of Wall Street and the subsequent bailout).
