ABC News' Sunlen Miller Reports: Senator Obama – for the first time – has brought up specific criticisms of Senator McCain’s new VP choice, Sarah Palin – accusing her of not supporting Equal Pay for Equal Work.

“John McCain’s new VP nominee seems like a very engaging person, a nice person,” Obama started to say during a town hall in Toledo, OH, “But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed like John McCain is to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

The polling internals show she is grabbing huge chunks of independent women. They HAVE to stop her.

The time has come for her to respond, and not with conservative credentials of guns, Jesus and babies. She needs to hold onto that chunk of women and supporting equal pay for equal work is a superb way for her to do that.

This is about the middle. The McCain team has a huge asset there. They need to use it where it is best used, on moderate women.

The level of attack, even by the top of the ticket over the VP pick leads me to believe this was a very good pick. Barry making up stuff about the VP pick solidifies it.

After reading some of the posted comments on that site I have come to wonder if some of these people “Claiming” to be republicans are what they say. The “I just can’t believe he would do this” crowd are starting to raise my suspicions.

On a slightly different note: Is Andrew Sullivan a conservative? I thought he was a flaming liberal but now I see he’s commenting in this same vein.

The smell of their own desperation is choking them . Why is it that the males of this sub set are the ones going after Sara ? Where do the genetic females of the sub set stand.

How does McCain oppose equal pay? Sounds like another big lie. Perhaps because McCain like most Republicans believes people should be paid based on what they do and how well they do it, the left equates this with bigotry, sexism, and wanting to “turn back the clock.” What is Omaba’s solution, quotas?? Make sure for every man hired at a high salary a company or institution must hire a woman at the same pay? Utterly absurd. I hope this issue comes up in the debates and McCain/Palin set the record straight and tell the Dems to stop their lies. “Country first” my foot. All they want is to keep old divisions alive.

Has MRs. Palin put out a position paper on this subject? How does he know this. Is he just flapping his face. “Hey Obama! Shut your pie-hole - we’re workin’ here”. Nicholson in “Anger Management”

The Obama campaign could not provide immediate proof Palin’s opposition to Equal Pay - and instead only connected Palin to McCain’s opposition.

Judgement, Mr.Obama. Judgement. You had this race in the sack with the Beast and like Cliff Clavin (Cheers) the last question came and you F’d-up. Now, Hillary keeps pushing that zapper.....Dance Postman.....Dance. If you had chosen Hillary, Palin would not have been selected, and the base would not be fallin in love with the woman and by extension, MR.McCain. You hated Hillary, so.....you tried to stick it to her....now you know you will be cast into oblivion....So......dance Postman....dance.

very astute observations.

Andrew Sullivan kind of reminds me of Christopher Hitchens...spot on about muslims but waaaaaay off the deep end about Christians.

The National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE), founded in 1979, is a coalition of women's and civil rights organizations; labor unions

The wage gap exists, in part, because many women and people of color are still segregated into a few low-paying occupations. More than half of all women workers hold sales, clerical and service jobs. Studies show that the more an occupation is dominated by women or people of color, the less it pays.

NCPE Member Organizations (includes:)

AFL-CIO*

American Federation of Govt Employees*

Coalition of Black Trade Unionists*

Communications Workers of America*

Gender Action

Labor Council for Latin American Advancement

MomsRising.org

NAACP

National Education Association*

National Organization for Women

YWCA of the USA*

(Obama lies again)

That is redundant. After spending 20 years in the reverend racist’s church, schooled in Indonesia and groomed by domestic enemies, it is apparent to me he is DESPICABLE.

I’m still not convinced he is even a natural born citizen; he hasnt come clean on that, either. Why would i expect him to be truthful about anything else?

What a Moron. He does not even know her position on the issue. Fits his style well. Make it up (just like his supposed “judgment”).

According to this report:
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/31/biden-palins-good-looking

Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella called Obama’s comments a disgrace and “an absurd accusation.”

AGREE!

If women do the same work for less pay. It would be stupid for any employer to hire men instead of women. There is also many other factors that play into the discrepancy between income between women and men.

“But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed like John McCain is to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

It's just a continuation of, "From each, according to their wealth. To each, according to their Party membership."

Illinois lawmakers make $67,833.

Illinois lawmakers are paid more than their counterparts in neighboring states. In Iowa, members of the House and Senate earn a base pay of $25,000. Missouri legislators get $31,350, while Indiana lawmakers receive $11,600.

Perhaps Osama wishes to address this fact to his homeys in Illinois. Given his support for Equal Pay for Equal Work I’d say Illinois needs to reduce the amount their lawmakers are paid by tens of thousands of dollars.

Equal pay for equal work? There’s no such thing! It should be “Equal pay for equal time (or position).” There’s no way another person will do the same work (quality and/or quantity) that I do be it much or little.

One of my engineering friends remarked that “if we get rid of the right 50% of people in our company, we’ll still get the same amount of work accomplished.”
