After reading the “Coulterism” paper three times, I am still at as loss as to why it takes some academics 18 pages to say what a normal person could sum-up in a paragraph or two.

A "normal person" summing a bunch of related ideas into a couple of paragraphs? Don't misoverestimate our post-literate society's "normal" people, Sargis. I work rotating shifts in one of a huge, multi-global corporation's many factories. I doubt half of my coworkers could either spell or define "paragraph".
