I’m Catholic, but I put them at the same pay grade: effectively infinite. The POTUS isn’t just the leader of our “young nation.” Because of the US’s position in the world, he is effectively the single most powerful person in terms of secular power on the planet. The Pope is the most powerful religious person. Both max out their respective “pay grades.”

During yesterday’s question and answer with the Reverend Rick Warren, Obama said “he’s pro-choice and supports Roe v. Wade, his goal is to reduce the number of abortions in America.” That’s like saying I am for drunk driving but I want to reduce the number of drunk driving deaths in America. But then again, this is the same candidate that said he favored abortion because if one of his daughters made a mistake, he wouldn’t want them punished with a baby. This man is wrong on this issue morally, politically, and spiritually. As for the Rev. Rick Warren, I don’t know the man, but he called both McCain and Obama his friends, and both patriots. I disagree with him in that regard. If Obama is a patriot, we could do with fewer of his type.

Snap out of it! Mac went to bat for conservatism last night and he came up with a grand slam.

I disagree. I think it is Obama upon whom the onus of proving his presidentialness is put. McCain on the other hand is likely widely seen by Americans as being well qualified and experienced for the presidency and as being a leader.

IMO, being a Senator in Washington is above his pay grade too.

His being a U.S.Senator blows the Peter Principle all to hell.

One last thought. I thought McCain came off because he was a man serenely in possession of himself, full of self-confidence because he had been through the fire, he has proved himself as a man and has grown so far past that game that he becomes beautifully transparent and attractive.

Exactly. That said, I just wish he didn't have to read from notes on a table...during his appearances in townhall venues. It diminishes him...when you can see him reading scripts he shouldn't have to.

That makes him 1 for 100. Yeah, a real winner.

One interview will not erase years of deconstruction of conservatism.

Look, I agree with you. But if McCain is coming around on the issues and will select a pro-life conservative VP, what are you going to do?

Are you still going to complain? Nobody's asking you to knock on doors or man the phone banks or even donate money. But if McCain is reaching out conservatives along with a good VP selection, then by all means vote for him.
