when Gore could have picked Edwards, but instead, went with Lieberman - what might have been?

Indeed, with Obama pulling in 95% of the Black vote in the south, and Edwards adding the white working class Reagan democrats, we could bring back into the fold the south, Obama-Edwards 2008

only problem with that theory is gore didn't even win Tenn and edwards didn't help kerry win NC

2004 President: North Carolina
Bush 56%
Kerry 44%
2000 PRESIDENT: TENNESSEE
Bush 51%
Gore 48%

but when have the dems ever let facts get in the way...

edwards didn't help kerry win NC

I had occasion to drive through Robbins, NC (Edwards "hometown") darn near every weekend during the 2004 elections. I didn't see a single "Kerry/Edwards" sign. No mention of him anywhere, for that matter.

Pretty bad when your hometown doesn't want you. Edwards is from the rich liberal section of RTP. The only people he carried would have voted Dem anyway.
