Not the same thing to me. These are national figures in the public eye where most people think “Reverend” implies formal training in religion, or at least a church with a congregation. Both individuals know this and let the bogus title persist precisely because of this misunderstanding of what it really means. If either of these two men had any morals, they would insist that the bogus title be dropped. However, since its politically expedient not to, neither has the moral conviction to do what's right.

But these same men are the same order that Jesse Jackson is out of. The MLK group in Atlanta. That is where Jackson got his start, hanging out with the Reverend King. So these same men in Atlanta all throw Reverend in front of their name to give them some sort of prestige. It is exactly the same thing.
