She didn't just "visit" Indonesia, she married a local guy who supposedly worked for the government, and he went to work for Shell oil later on.

The woman was there for at least half a decade, or maybe more.

I suspect she was recruited by the CIA to work under a USAID or USIA cover.

Many of our "native resources" found themselves exterminated or driven out of the country under Sukarno. This is in the immediate aftermath of Suharto's takeover. There was a fair amount of violence ~ something like half a million communists and Hindus were killed there.

So, not as naive as you might think.

She hated the U.S. She was a Communist sympathiser as a teenager in high school while living on Mercer Island. She had nothing to do with what happened in Indonesia. That was Indonesians killing one another. People around the world slaughter each other regularly, and have for many centuries, all without the CIA’s help.

Stop trying to lay the blame on the U.S. for other nation’s stupid, brutal acts.
