Just because the whole world really is out to get you doesn’t mean you’re paranoid.

Jim, thanks for one of the best laughs of this week!

Just because the whole world really is out to get you doesn’t mean you’re paranoid.

Jim, is there any problem with us linking to their site with the paranoid certificate of birth re stuff that can attack our computers?

This poor sob can probably really relate to your comments:

This was posted previously to queries like yours. I did not do the ethical hacking to track the bad guys. Kid genius (my teenage computer-service-administrator-wannabe nephew). I’m posting what my nephew wrote for someone else who was experiencing hard drive difficulties. Pleae excuse his text messaging lingo. “hi im the genius kid and wat you have is a trojan that is not detectable by antivirus. Now before i say anything this program from what I have looked at it can install it self under several process names that run on ur computer. The two it uses are svchost.exe and explorer.exe. But they look like this, svchost..exe, or explorer..exe (notice the double periods). Now to get rid of it follow this file path WINDOWS/system32/ it should be in that folder. DO NOT DELETE A FILE THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS - svchost.exe or explorer.exe. Look for the file that has the double period. Oh and by the way I am seeing if it runs under anything else, so if u cant find it then it is installed under something else. if u need more help just ask for Kid Genius” As his aunt I’m torn between gratitude and horror! I sure hope this answers questions and helps all of you.

Thanks for the warning.

Nothing done, being done or will be done by the Obamination thugs to our computers and live people will surprise me.

If I go down too office of records for my locale........and ask for a copy of my Birth Certificate they don’t copy the original one from the 50’s......they look at the copy and print me a new one using the data on the microfiche.
I think the document seen is a copy and no doubt printed recently..........

I want Obama too lose as does all here (or so I believe) yet want too have solid facts !

Yep, but whose live birth certificate is it a copy of.

Wow...I would thumb my nose at Windows and "feel" better for being a Linux bigot, but I just finished patching Linux based BIND DNS servers due to a very, VERY nasty exploit that's going on right now. I'll tell you the "meat-n-taters" of it so you'll understand why it's so ugly.

It's called a cache poisoning attack. It's based on the DNS server using weak cryptographic algorithms to generate random message numbers. The attacker guesses the right number, sends a crafted response and essentially can do things like make http://www.whitehouse.gov appear as http://www.mindspring.com. In other words, you put http://www.whitehouse.gov on your web browser's address bar, but you are sent to http://www.mindspring.com.

I know this sounds like a prank on the surface, but what if you were going to a site which requires authentication credentials, such as PayPal? Even if it's SSL encrypted, how many people click through SSL cert errors?! Even I've been guilty of that! So you might "think" that you're logging onto PayPal, but you could be logging onto a site which has been established for the sole purpose of gathering credentials.

Also...on a side note... e-mail can also be redirected using this technique. So you might "think" that you're sending e-mail to mybuddy@af.mil, but in fact, it's going to a "pick up point" and being gathered there. It's even possible to grab a copy on the way through and send it on to the correct af.mil mail servers, and maybe nobody will notice for awhile.

So anyway...that's been my excitement for the afternoon. :-) I fixed our stuff...but I know from experience that it will be weeks, and maybe even months before the rest of the planet catches up.

You are exactly correct re the laser printing.

Now what if you were born in Hawaii and gave me a copy.

Then I gave that copy to guys with fairly advance printshop type programs, computer scanners and skills. They could reproduce what is on their site at this time.

I see this as the same issue re Kerry not releasing copies of his DD 180. If Obama wanted to clear this up, he could apply for several legit copies of his birth certificate and send them to sites like this one to post and other sites not controlled by him. He could send legit copies to Rush, Sean and other conservative talk show hosts. Then this tempest would be over in an instant.

Did we see an official copy of Kerry’s 180? No.

Will we see an official and un tampered with certificate of Live Birth of Obama? Probably not.

Why not on both questions?

I was just glad to get it done! That's been my day ALL day. Earlier today, a drive failed in a fairly important machine, and that was TOO much fun. :-(

Oh hey...I skimmed over the virus info in this thread, and forgot to mention.... one of the prime objectives in a DNS cache poisoning attack is to redirect clients to viral sites. Perhaps the two are related.... the DNS problem, and this virus.

Good chatting with you again.

I’m well and hope you are the same.

Keep safe.

PS: How long is the powder in shells bought in 2004 good for.

About as long as the heller decision it seems.....

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,377203,00.html

Honestly I have factory ammo from the mid 30’s and 40’s that has functioned perfectly.

Proper storage is the key ! A food save and a chest type freezer keeps 02 and light out of the formula as well as temperature stability ......leave the chest type freezer unplugged ! I store reloading components , powder and primer in this fashion and all is in good condition !

As well date and time group aka DTG the packages you make with the boxes of ammo in the original boxes wrapped in the vacuumed food saver bags with a sharpe marker .........

That is best way a civilian can store ammo IMO and experience !

Always enjoy trading verbiage with ya Dave !

Stay safe !

I hear ya buddy, and I can’t be critical. Like I said, here I am the Linux nerd patching our DNS servers for a very nasty vulnerability.

There is something though called “SELinux” (Security Enhanced Linux) that could make web borne threats a moot point. But it’s such a PITA to deal with that no rational, sane people run it.

PROBABLY! :-) One of the things it does is cause a Linux box to adhere to many of the requirements for C2 out of the "Orange Book". I need to learn more about it. A buddy of mine accidentally turned it ON here on a server and it caused him a lot of problems. I turned it OFF, but I need to learn how to use it. :-) I'm sure it has a use to one degree or another!
