nully, it's "We, the People", not "We, the Barristers". The US Constitution is written by citizens for citizens. If anything, the historic over-emphasis of waiting for a legal expert, a lawyer, to interpret it has led to many of the worst problems in our governance. Especially in these years when the President himself has engaged in such laxity -- actually a dereliction of duty.

It is true that most Presidents have been lawyers, yet being a lawyer was much more of a open occupation for the first hundred plus years of US history. You or I would have easily been lawyers at some point or another. You had to be smart, well-spoken and read in the basic law.

We've gone into a certification expertism of a kind that has been and is highly debasing of the general legal wisdom.

Now it’s you people are getting too uppity.

We’ve fallen a long way since we were willing to revolt over a few pence tax on tea, haven’t we?
