I can think of several reasons that a campaign would set aside $750 K to discredit a "nutjob." Nutjob or not, and I believe that is likely the case here, it is always possible that the Sinclair story could gain traction and if the campaign does not get out in front of it, it could start to stick in people's minds.
As for me, Obama's policies are enough to keep me from voting for him.

I think that the same campaign that would not allow two Muslim women to set behind their candidate because of how it might look would probably spend $750k to get rid of a “nut job.”
