In an offensive mode, the blog Firedoglake continues its forceful opposition to letting Larry Sinclair have a forum at the National Press Club.
Here is the latest email from Jane Hamsher at Firedoglake:
"This morning a group of volunteers delivered nearly 11,500 petition signatures to the National Press Club asking them to check the facts of Larry Sinclair's story before giving him the stage.
"But it looks like we need to keep pressure on the National Press Club getting the message yet.
"Friday, as news was getting around Washington about our petition, the president of the National Press Club, Sylvia Smith, defended the event to the Politico, saying, 'I'm not aware that we've ever turned anybody away for content.'
"It's up to us to convince her to do just that.
"Please give a call to the National Press Club at 202-662-7500, and politely, but firmly, ask them to deny their stage to someone bent on slandering a public figure.
"Their own code of ethics states, 'I believe that advertising, news and editorial columns should alike serve the best interests of readers; that a single standard of helpful truth and cleanness should prevail for all; that supreme test of good journalism is the measure of its public service.'
"Sinclair's lies about sex and drug use don't even come close to meeting that simple criterion. Hopefully a gentle reminder to review their own code of ethics will be enough to get the National Press Club to cancel the event.
"Thank you for taking action,
Jane Hamsher and the Firedoglake Team"
The "gun to a fight" references Obama's speech in Philly Friday, where he said, If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun. Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. Ive seen Eagles fans.
Funny, this is the exact phrase a friend and loyal Indiana Dem used some months ago, re: Obama strategy. He was urging the senator to get tough. He has.
As for the NPC, I can handle whichever way it goes. Either way, it's a heck of a story. Sinclair is shut out; he'll continue his crusade, amid even more squawking. He speaks, and ideally, his story gets national media scrutiny -- and dismissal in a very public forum.
The libtards are in a tizzy..
When Kitty Kelly published her smear tome on the Bush Family right before the 2004 election, I don’t recall Firedogpuke saying she shouldn’t be allowed to hawk her 250+ page exercise in slander.
Jane Hamsandwich, as usual — hypocrit extraordinaire.
Is there any reason to believe Sinclair? I don’t want to get my hopes up only to be disappointed.
Doesn’t look like the NPC is backing down.
If there was nothing to Sinclair’s story of gay sex and crack-smoking, Obama would have already disposed of it on his own initiative, and described it as just another Right Wing Loony attempt to smear him and his wife. This he has already done with numerous other imaginary “smears”. It’s the MSM that determines exactly what degree of exposure this stuff ever gets and how much reaches the ears and eyes of the Sheeple. I tend to think this “story” has lots more credibility than Michelle Obama’s “whitey/Why’d he” statements. Which is why the name Larry Sinclair will NEVER be spoken from Camp Obama in its project of “erasing the smears”. ANYONE< SOMEONE
correct me if I’m wrong!
Hell, when Dan Rather and Mary Mapes ‘exposed’ President Bush, the MSM ran hundreds of articles on the blessed event. You don’t hear nary a peep on Sinclair’s allegations in the MSM, at least until now.
No need to have any hopes one way or another. If Sinclair is a fraud, it will be good to see him exposed. If what he says is true, it will be good to derail Osama, er Obama.
Not so far. But I wouldn’t bet the farm on it not being cancelled.
I find him quite believable. His detractors are found wanting, however.
Thank ye
When a few more of Obama’s homosexual cocaine buddies start telling their stories, the goofballs will be babbling more incoherently than they already do.
Well, that would be nice if Larry has found another beneficiary of Obama’s charms. He said he may have a ‘special guest’ at the presser. LOL
It doesn't matter does it. So long as it's "fake but accurate" CBS will run with it..
I wouldn’t a lot of hoppe or credibility on Larry Sinclair. Unless he produces a video tape, this is a nonstarter, and even if he does, it may not matter to most...
The following changes have been made in the Wednesday June 18, 2008 News Conference originally scheduled for the Lisagor Room at the National Press Club. The event is now scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2008 from 1-5:00 PM in the HOLEMAN LOUNGE at the National Press Club. This change was due to capacity in the Lisagor Room was a maximum of 40 people. The Holeman Lounge has a capacity of 110. In addition the Holeman Lounge is available from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM It is also my understanding that a very special guest will attend to provide moral support.

If Larry delivers the limo driver, Obama is toast. If he delivers otehr corroborating evidence, Obama will be damaged. If he delivers nothing, Obama and the press will continue to ignore him.
