Personally I could care less about Vietnam or what he may have or not have done. People who think they can win elections on their military service don’t mean a damn thing to me anymore. What matters is your character and can you fix problems. What I have seen is a full blown traitor to his party and his president. A backstabbing egotistical liberal RINO opportunist who has no solutions to jack or sh!t and who hates Conservatives.

Please don't get me wrong, I was pretty mad about these libelous threads when they were posted. Just a reminder that we have our own native MoonBats here on FR. And that sometimes politics makes strange bedfellows.

Someone is suggesting that McCain was a collaborator? Who? Where? Has the Left really sunk this low?

Your joking right? Pay close attention to the so called "True Conservatives" that show up on almost all threads even here on FR (Not all but some). They will drop all kinds of innuendo about his time in captivity and release. You can usually tell the ones I'm talking about because the talking points are generally but not always the same, they usually include the "Manchurian Candidate", accusations about his treatment of his first wife and of-course the old stand-by Keating Five.

I will have a hard time voting for McCain myself because of real issues I have with his current position on drilling, GW, and what constitutes obscene profits but some of these posters are obviously seminar posters. To go after his war record is real lame.

Most conservatives may disagree with McCain on several critical issues, but running down his record of service to America is not in the cards. Bold face lies!

Yep...LOL

From: Wishapedia; AlGore Vidal - Once roamed the halls of the United States Senate as Senator from Tennesseessee. Once ran for President of the United States but had election stolen from him by mean ole liberal Supreme Court. Now hangs out on his gas guzzling Gulf-extreme Jet running around the world telling other fawning nut jobs and fruit cakes how they are wasting energy. Makes millions of dollars selling Snake-Oil packaged in Carbon Credit envelops to suckers like Obama. Last known hang out Dunkin Donuts in Paris France.

claiming he collaborated with the NVA after capture

Those marxist sobs collaborate with the enemy without being captured. They make me sick.

Even if you were there, you wouldn't know who or who did not collaborate or whether
“all” broke eventually. It's not wise to ask these men to come forward unless you know what they will say.

I think McCain’s POW experience gets too much ink from both ends, from those who view it as a great heroic feat of survival, and those who claim he was not the model American POW.

It’s something to be mentioned, but it just doesn’t have a lot of relevance to who would or would not make a good president. Almost 600 Vietnam POWs returned home, so if that experience should be constantly brought up, then let’s honor all the POws from that era.

But since it’s constantly brought up, there is a logical question of whether that long and brutal experience made him more or less psychologically suited to be president?

I’ve been told that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
In the case of John McCain and thers held in captivity as POW’s, tortured beyond belief. I salute them for their tolerance and faith to America.
There must have been some real dark days for these guys, but they kept the faith.
Sure they all broke. But who sitting on this side of the fence wouldn’t have also broken.
The Crypto-Marxist Left Will make a lot of this, just as they took Bush to task over his service.
They will even manufacture lies just as they did with Bush. Personally I believe that McCain is strong and has the expirence well above and beyond anything Barack ahs been able to come up with.
That is why I have called upon those ex-POW’s to stand up for him.
One of my life experiences was to meet and become a friend of a gentleman that was captured at Corregidor. He told me a few of his experiences including being on one of the Hell ships to Japan and working in a lead mine until the war ended. I asked him abou the beatings and he just told me that they were brutal. His last comment to me was. I lived through the worst humanity could hand me and I survived to live. Seymour passed away in 1999 at 81 years of age.

I don’t think there’s any reasonable person who faults McCain and the other POWs, whether they broke or not. They were in a situation where they had to find ways to survive, and any intelligence value they had (was probably never much) expired a few months after their captivity. Their main value was for propaganda, and few if any back in the US believed any of their statements were genuine.

But I don’t think that experience makes anyone more qualified to be president. The overall military experience does, but a POW experience could have left as many damaging psychological scars as it left increased strength in the individual.

I also don’t think the Dems. will be able to damage McCain by picking over his time as a POW. Most all Americans will put that in its proper context and it won’t affect their vote one way or another. That POW experience is a fact, and will help him with some voters, but I don’t think any but already extreme leftists would view it as a negative no matter what sort of dirty tricks the Dems. might try to play with it.

They’re doing it right now. They whine and cry about the so-called smears regarding BO and his wife. They’ve even set up a site trying to debunk the information coming out. But they continue to lie about McCain and his 5 years in captivity. Rather than discuss issues they prefer to use slander and smear tactics.

Senator McCain likely did break, as did most of the VietNam POW's. That does not equate to collaboration.

You said it.. At least there is no question about his discharge. McCain served till his retirement and now receives a pension from the Navy along with his permanent injury and POW pension that comes to 58,000 per year.
My hat goes off to the man who served his country and still serves his country as a civilian.
That is a lot more than can be said about those pretenders to the presidency that were still in diapers while McCain was being tortured by the NVA.

Someone (a media personality) questioned whether he had really been a POW. I don’t recall who...
