So true -— Of the Marines I served with; one had his masters in Chem. Eng.; one had escaped from Finland; a couple had come off the reservation—— and everything in between.

I’ve seen that, but it would take too long and I don’t want to hear him utter more filth. Firing squad will do for me.

“Escaped from Finland!?!”
His words. As I recall he hated the Russians and was not happy that Finland was being so accommodating. So - in 1949 or thereabouts, he stowed away on a ship and ended up in U.S. He enlisted to get his citizenship. Damn, I'm surprised I remembered that much. You know how it is with us old folks and memory.

I don’t know why my say so would mean anything.
Hell, I’m a loudmouthed blowhard, even in my own opinion.
You on the other hand, have been a dedicated stalwart that took up the cause of spreading the word to as much of the world as you could reach in an effort assist in the defense our Marines.
You’ve made it a personal cause. You’ve stayed on point and on post. How you managed to ignore the calling and keep yourself a heathen I’ll never figger out.
Semper Fi brother.

Wow. Great story and good recall. It’s a funny thing, memory. We have a friend who is retired from the Corps, had a stroke, can’t remember anything beyond 5 minutes ago.
But when we ask him about his service, BAM. It all rushes to the forefront. It’s amazing.

The one that really fries my a*& is the Liberal statement that Blacks were thrown into the fight indiscriminately because of the minority status in the U.S. I literally HATE the MSM for this and I think that blacks veterans never properly denied this. I remember reading that blacks with battlefield experience in Viet Nam were about 75 percent volunteers. To say otherwise is a slap in the face to all black Americans who served honorably, were wounded or lost their lives in service to their comrades and to the US.
