HEY! We sprinkled bird seed out in the yard this spring and got a flock of all sorts around here this year. I had some stuff on the front porch ready to go to Goodwill when I picked up something to take. It was an Easy Bake Oven box that had an open flap. This Brown Thrasher kept coming on my porch singing and I would go outside and chirp to it. It stayed there every day for a while. Then it started coming in my house when my front door was open for fresh air. It would fly in, sit on my curtain rod, chirp for a bit and then fly out. My daughter in law saw this and almost freaked out, being superstitious and all.

So anyway, we raised a little Brown Thrasher family on our front porch. Watched from eggs to young birds. One day he or she came in and started chirping up a storm. I went outside and she/he landed on the box. I heard the babies in there chirping up away and was worried something got in there. I opened the box lid and all four flew out of the box. I figure this bird called on me to help her/him open the box for her kids, they were sitting there perched and ready when I opened the box. And I got an outstanding gift of seeing a brown thrasher family take it’s first flight!
