In Ohio if you bring a concealed pistol into most places which put up a "No Guns" sign, all they can do is ask you to leave and if you don't you can be charged with trespassing. The exception is anywhere serving alcohol. The old felony laws for carrying in there were retained.

Has VA changed the laws in the last few years? It used to be that you couldn't carry concealed in places that serve alcohol, but you could carry open.

"Can’t carry where they serve alcohol."

Are you aware of what states follow that statute? I have never been informed that I am not allowed to carry in an establishment which provides alcohol. I will have to check into that. (I live in Indiana by the way in case you know the law on that as of this moment)
