I heard on tv that Gov. Bobby Jindal, Mitt Romney, Gov. Charlie Crist, Rob Portman, Senator Sam Brownback, Senator Joe Lieberman were invited to Senator McCain's ranch, and some (or all) are potential running mates.
So I'm doing some research on them, and would like to hear what other FReepers think about these people.
Of course, it's not a "done deal" that any of these will be the running mate, and it could be someone entirely different. I also like Sen. John Thune, Governor Palin, J.C. Watts, Michael Steele and a few others.
Mark Sanford
I’ll put my $$$ on Leiberman. Maybe I’m wrong but...we’ll see what we see.
I only know who I don’t like and you know who I mean. Who’s globe trotting while Florida’s in an economic downturn and hurricane season starts on June 1? He’s never been a governor. He used Fla as a stepping stone. STUPID GOP AND DEMS WHO VOTED FOR HIM. If Mccain picks Gov. Suntan, we’ll have socialism and marxism (as in marx brothers but without the laughs).
Jeff Sessions is the only member in Congress who is logical and his floor speeches are captivating because he’s so honest and intelligent, not to mention Session has common sense. No one else does!
Just the Senate?
LOLOL! Never thought about that one. ;o)
To be honest, in the world we live in today, nothing would surprise me any more. I could even see him chosing a DemonRAT for a running mate. I don't think it matters. We're screwed no matter who wins.
Question: Why the heck do you hang around here if you want see Democrats in the White House come January? The last Democrat to occupy the Oval Office:
1. Meant 8 years of a fiasco in Bosnia that no one here seems to remember.
2. Janet Reno and the Waco massacre plus Elian Gonzales being kidnapped by the DOJ and sent to Papa Castro.
3. Stephen Brayer and Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the SC.
4. Madeline Albright the nurturing of the Chinese Communist sphere of influence, the growth of Hezbollah and Hammas and the resurrection of Saddam Hussein's regime.
5. The bombings of the USS Cole, Kenya, the barracks in Saudi Arabia and ignoring the threat of Al Qeida.
6. A sullied Oval Office when Billie Jeff got a Lewinski.
7. The dot.com boom and ultimate bust.
8. Diminished U.S. military morale and readiness, plus two full rounds of BRACs.
9. The beginnings of a surge of illegal immigration and complete lack of regard for secure borders.
10. A higher income tax on all wage earners.
Yeh, that’s great, but what is his positio and record as Gov. on the Invasion by Mexico? Is he solidly anti-illegal alien and for prosecuting employers of illegals? Jindal, I mean...
meandog, you’re right. Bill Clinton did nothing to secure the Southern Border. However, what you fail to mention is...Bill Clinton DID NOT BRING UP AMNESTY IN HIS 8 YEARS! So, while he left us vulnerable to 9/11 (which Bush must share in the blame for allowing to happen), Clinton did not “encourage” illegal Mexicans to break into the U.S. as Bush with his Amnesty talk did. Once Bush spoke about Amnesty, the Invasion increased exponentially.
It IS true, of course, that NAFTA—pushed thru by Gingrich for Clinton—caused millions of illegals to break into the U.S. But tht was, I believe, an unintended consequence—unlike Bush’s calls for Amnesty which had a direct consequence that WAS intended!
Governor Palin.”
I’ll echo that.
Yeah, she doesn’t have a lot of experience. Big deal. The way I feel about these clowns right now, I’d be in favor of new elections every year, with term limits.
McCain OWES Crist... but this might be the way of him paying him back (including him as an also-ran). I have a feeling it might be Romney, which is fine with me.
I don’t care if Romney stands for _______ or doesn’t stand for _______, because, the way I see it, anything these people say they stand or don’t stand for doesn’t mean anything, because they’ll all betray us anyway... it’s just a matter of which side of the aisle is going to screw us over MORE.
On the plus side, Romney looks good (balancing McCain, who looks like a grouchy old man... oh, wait... he IS a grouchy old man...!), and can put sentences together to form whole thoughts (unlike our current, marvelous President).
I admit, my standards for qualifications aren’t very high, but when you’re given a choice between shoveling horse crap or cow crap, it’s kind of easy not to look at any of it with any good feeling.
“I heard on tv that Gov. Bobby Jindal, Mitt Romney, Gov. Charlie Crist, Rob Portman, Senator Sam Brownback, Senator Joe Lieberman were invited to Senator McCain’s ranch, and some (or all) are potential running mates.”
I like Jindal, but he’s too wet behind the ears.
Not a conservative in the bunch, but would have voted for Mitt for POTUS, so if he picked him, if only to be intellectually honest with myself, I’d probably have to vote for that ticket. The rest are WPOS liberals that can all kiss the fattest part of my backside.
Mitt is a liberal too.
It has nothing to do with screwing America. We can’t continue to let our party run more to the left each election.
If McCain were to make it to the WH he would not be able to do the few things that conservatives want.
And that you only respond to a small part of my post is very telling.
.
MY Top 11 list:
1. Rep. Steve King (IA) (a true conservative and tough as hell on illegals and a great speaker)
2. Rep. Ted Poe (TX) (ditto from above)
3. Rep. John Culbertson (TX) (ditto from above)
4. Rep. Virgil Goode (VA) (ditto from above)
5. Rep. Brian Bilbray (CA) (ditto from above)
6. Rep. Dana Rohrbacher (CA) (ditto from above)
7. Rep. Walter B. Jones (NC) (ditto from above)
8. Rep. Sue Myrick (NC) (ditto from above)
9. Sen. Jeff Sessions
10. Sheriff Joe Arpaio (ditto from above)
11. D.A. King (GA) (ditto from above)
The order of the above great conservative leaders really doesn’t matter. I could list another 30 or 40 possible VPs. The one constant these men and one woman above have is they would bring back enough of the base to help McCain win. And they would be a signal to anti-Invasion conservatives that McCain would probably not sign an Amnesty bill which are bound to come before him in his first year. He CANNOT win without that base, and picking a pseudo-conservative like Romney or Brownback won’t get it done. Of course, we all know that McCain isn’t going to select a staunch anti-Invasion conservative in the ticket to show him up for what he isn’t! So all of this is pure follow.
I don’t understand how some here believe that Colin Powell or Gov. Palin would help McCain. Palin is no conservative and Powell has been a liberal (pro-affirmative action which helped him) and hasn’t changed his spots. Crist is a RINO and has too many questions about his sexual proclivities and his stance on offshore drilling wouldn’t help McCain. Brownback would not get conservative support. Leiberman is a liberal Demo and is too old for VP to old man McCain plus he’d drive even MORE conservatives and Indies away from McCain. J.C. Watts has been out of the limelight for a long time. Like Powell, he’s pro-affirmative action and is not trusted by many conservatives. His star fell ages ago. Thompson is too old and did poorly in the primaries, as did Hunter. Hunter couldn’t carry CA for McCain, so what’s the point of him being VP?
Senator Thune is as inexperienced as Obama, and is sounding more like a RINO with every press conference. He used to be a real conservative, but I wouldn’t believe it today. He does bring youth, however.
“Question: Why the heck do you hang around here if you want see Democrats in the White House come January? The last Democrat to occupy the Oval Office:”
Because I am not a RINO, McCain Cool-Aid drinking socialist I should not be on FR?
Why on earth are you here when you do not support conservative values?
Some how not bending over for McCain the shill of the left I should stop posting?
You in fact demostrate the very heart of his Stalinist roots. If I don’t agree with you or him I need to shut up or go away.
McCain will do far more damage in the WH then Obama, who we cana least fight against.
Sorry to hear that at some point you lost your will to fight the socialiats.
“Mitt is a liberal too.”
Maybe so, but he doesn’t hate me and everything that I stand for. Can’t say the same for McGore.
BTW- the Republican National Socialist Party’s tactic of using fear of the democrats to get me a conservative to vote McCain will not work on me. And it shouldn’t work with any self respecting conservative.
The enemy is the socialists.
