No one is condemning the uniform. We don't wear our uniforms 24/7. The overwhelming majority of military folks that work at the Pentagon commute in civvies.
Just an update.....my Cadets got nothing but Thumbs Up, handshakes and compliments wherever they went. We met several “old” Sea Cadets” who remember their time in the program and all agreed it was the best thing that ever happened to them.
We did hit a snag in our trip to the White House (Senator Menedez’s office messed up our paperwork, Lousy Democrats!)but we did get a first class tour of the Capitol (used the Senatorial tramway below!) sat in the House of Rep’s chamber, a great time at NASM, and of course, the USNA, where we met one of our Sea Cadets that went with some of mine to Cadet Boot camp 3 years ago. What a Young Lady! Happy and enjoying every minute of being there.
One highlight was our taking part in a full military funeral for a LCDR who died recently. We were the only people there for the Widow, along with the Arlington lady and Navy Chaplin of course, and she was pleased as punch that a group of Young Sailors were there to honor her Husband. Not a dry eye in the formation as the cassion and honor guard & band went past. And don’t get me started with the rifle squad who did the 21 gun salute......if you’ve never been able to witness one of these funerals, try to and you’ll understand what it means to be an American Serviceman who paid the ultimate price for his Country.
Hippies and Tree-Huggers beware! Let’s see who you scream for when the next Natural Disaster or tin-hat Dictator takes over another Country. Don’t come to Us!
