Commentary by Daniel T. Zanoza, Executive Director, RFFM.org

Houston, we have a problem! Or perhaps I should say, Republicans have a problem. Even though GOP crybabies--including Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity--now seem to be rallying around the candidacy of Sen. John McCain, the message has yet to filter down to the Party's base.

Though McCain is the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee, in Pennsylvania Rep. Ron Paul finished second with over 15% of the Republican votes cast. Gov. Mike Huckabee snatched up nearly 12% of those who voted on the GOP's side of the ballot. Both men tallied a very tidy 27% of all votes in a primary that was over before it started.

In Indiana, Paul and Huckabee scooped up 17% of Republican votes, combined, in that state's presidential horse race. Folks, Paul and Huckabee weren't even trying and there wasn't even a race that day.

Does anyone besides myself see a problem here?

In contrast...

Would you like to do a similar comparison to the 2000 primary season showing results against Bush after the contest was effectively over? Hell even the non descript Keyes got 20% in the AR primary.

I voted Huckabee in PA - because I refuse to give McCain two votes this year. He will get my vote in November but only as a vote against the Obamanation (or Hildog!).

Yes. I do. The RNC designed the primaries this year to nominate a democrat to be our party's standard bearer. They succeeded. That's a problem.

if McCain continues to base his campaign on issues like global warming, no drilling in ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge) and the road to citizenship for the many millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, the chances are he will never bring the Party together
Doesn't McCain have any FRIENDS?

Nobody to tell him how STUPID this is?

Other than the over-verbalized fact that McLame is not a very popular choice for the Republicans, what is the point of this article? Ron apPauling and Mike Huckster are not going to get the nomination! Get real people!!

Mitt Romney got 20% of the vote in Pennsylvania and he wasn’t even running. For the record.

Nope no problem. McCain is going to win with all those independents, moderate cross-over Dems, and the illegals that voted for him in the early - OPEN - primaries.

THEY are going to fill his coffers with gazillions of campaign dollars and carry him off to ... VICTORY!!!

What problem? Obama is supposedly the Democrat’s pick, and he is still actually LOSING primaries, and they consider it good if he can beat his opponents by under 20 points.

He’s about to get destroyed in West Virginia — it’s theoretically possible that he will get a lower percentage than McCain’s opponents got.

Meanwhile, a number of McCain voters are staying home because their guy already won, which makes the “protest vote” look higher.
