One of the more conspicuous silences during the whole Bernie Ward saga has been coming from KGO-Radio (810 AM), his longtime employer. Long the Bay Area's ratings king, the news-talk station has -- on the advice of its corporate parent Citadel Broadcasting says KGO president and general manager Mickey Luckoff -- suggested that its on-air talent not talk about Bernie. Not yet.

"It wasn't an edict," Luckoff said Thursday, moments after Ward changed his plea to guilty to distributing child porn. "We have never, ever put restrictions on anybody here. We have never put an embargo on what people could say."

Morning show host Ronn Owens said that in his 32 plus years at teh station, "there has never, ever, ever -- until this -- been any subject that I've never been asked not to discuss" Owens said Thursday on his program.

The station relaxed its suggestions Tuesday when news broke that Ward was about to change his plea in his child pornography case. Luckoff said that the station received a tip "several days ago" that Ward was about to change his plea "but we sat on the story." Why? Luckoff said that their source gave them the information on the condition that they not air the news until the plea was actually changed. However, after The Chronicle reported that Ward would change his plea, KGO followed suit.

Was the plea-changing story held because of the station's longtime relationship with Ward, who no longer is employed there?

No, Luckoff said. "We were honoring our agreement with our source," he said.

KGO, generally a manure pile of filth, has one redeeming factor, Dr. Bill Wattenburg, the smartest man in the world.

He's also classy and cool, too much of a gentleman to mention the diseased pus bag Ward, but the rest of the leftie scum will happily put a knife in Bill's back if they can.

Jim Eason, another class act, left years ago when the floors started getting sticky.

Jim Eason was one of the best hosts there...but don’t forget, he was pretty liberal at one time.
