Ah, but you haven’t been doing your research. I’ve been reading for years about the attraction of Berkeley and San Francisco to bums nationwide. They’ve been gravitating to the most hospitable climes and political climates since the Summer of Love, at least.
I even recall a WaPo Sunday editorial from a decade ago by a (former) drug addict and bum about traveling there from Minneapolis.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there are websites dedicated to finding locales with the best bennies for the professionally homeless.
Must admit that indeed, I have not done any research on this particular topic. I just had the idea pop into my head and thought it would be amusing. Perhaps an additional time/place to do this would be the week of the democratic convention in denver.
