Hey, CNN..where's the Imam? ( and a few other thoughts abouyt the ridiculous "Compassion Forum")

Hopefully none of you wasted your time watching that ridiculous Compassion Forum on CNN last night. I taped it, and watched it this afternoon. And there were a few curious things in the two hours that merit comment. First, who hid the Imam?? We had several ministers and reverends pose questions, even a rabbi, sporting his yarmulka, yet from the Muslim community, well, a different story. Nary an Imam in sight. We had an American Muslim, who runs some charity, very erudite, and CLEAN SHAVEN....Not ONE facial hair...which it seems that 95% of American Muslims sport to some extent. And as for traditional Muslim dress..well, the guy looked like he just came from Brooks Bros. So, what's the story here? CNN couldn't find one Imam in the whole country, let alone Detroit, to ask a question..???

The largest religious denomination in the USA is Roman Catholic. Now possibly the US cardinals decided that they would not allow a RC clergy to participate in the forum...(not even Andrew Greeley?) but surely they could have found ONE lay Catholic who heads a charitable organization to ask a question. Again, highly suspicious...to say the least.

Lastly, you may have heard that sometime over this weekend, after criticizing Obama, someone asked Hillary when was the last time she went to church. She sort of brushed off the question...said Easter time, but I thought that many of you might enjoy reading something that I first posted here on FR in 2004, in one of my "Report from Chappaqua" threads....

"When the Clintons moved to Chappaqua in 2000, there was considerable excitment among our village's clergy as to which church the Clintons might choose to attend. It's fairly easy for them..there are 6 houses of worship within less than 2 miles of their house; indeed, the First Congregational Church of Chappaqua sits on the main street, at the end of the Clintons cul-de-sac. It's a 30 second drive..a 5 minute stroll.....and there are probably an additional 15-20 churchs within a 10 minute drive....so the number of choices is large. Since they've moved in, neither Clinton has ever set foot in any area church on Sunday mornings.. It would be easy for them to do, the early services are not that crowded, they could easily slip in and out of a pew, and the people in attendance would respect their privacy. They wouldn't even have to schlep along the big Bible so prominent during the Lewinski mess. But they have far better things to do than attend church. One Sunday morning, a few months before he had the cardiac episode, I was picking up my daughter at the train station at 8:15am...The parking lot is deserted on a Sunday, so it was easy to spot Bill and Hillary walking with Seamus (BTW..who's got the prop, er..dog, now?)in the train station parking lot... each carrying a container from Starbuck's....and there are FOUR churches within walking distance that had a service going on at that time."

IOW, everything that Hillary said last night about being a person of faith...well, it has about as much substance as the hole in a bagel...in short, a BIG ZERO...
