Howya, general! My parents recently went through that with a cousin’s estate in Tulsa. Fortunately, they didn’t have to go there: they gave a power-of-attorney to a cousin who lived closer.
Dad’s cousin died with a classic 60’s Porsche partially restored in his garage. Mom had it shipped to some cousins on HER side who have a boat-and-car business, and they’re going to fix it up and sell it for half the proceeds. (Or keep it and buy her out, if they fall in love with it.)
ONE of the many problems in "going through her stuff" is that my aunt (an RN for 60 years) wrote a massive amount of "notes to self" in an "old-fashioned medical shorthand" that (i'm told by a local RN, whose MOTHER knew the shorthand-the daughter does NOT know how to read it BUT "recognized it"!) was ONLY taught to nursing students in the 1920-1950s period!!!! !@#$%^& ===> i've had NO LUCK finding anyone who can interpret it for me!!!
wish me luck!
