Besides rain, that grass is struggling to grasp every molecule of Carbon Dioxide it can get to produce cellulose for its structural material. (n CO2 + n H2O = C6H10O5(n) {generic formula for cellulose} + O2)

-- Gasping for breath, you might say.

We should feed it more. Smell the flowers, but breathe on the grass. (It will return the favor.)
