I checked a book out of the library and it was said to have contained three volumes on the Civil War. (3” thick!) I was engrossed in the text, the photos and the style of writing, when, on turning a page, a photo stared me in the eyes.
It was Stand Watie. I will read about him tonight. I would have done it sooner, but I wanted to let you know that I had “met” him, and that I was about to read how he fit into the Civil War.
I’ll keep you posted! (How are things going with your sister’s [?] papers?)
All of a sudden, I’m tired. My eyes keep wanting to close, and my mouth keeps wanting to yawn. I can take a hint. I’m going to bed!
See y’all tomorrow!
it's my aunt's affairs & estate. (my kid sister & i are trying top figure it out, with LITTLE luck!!!)
fwiw, "the boss" was NO "glamor boy". he was short of stature, "portly", over 50YO in 1860 & self-taught tactical GENIUS!!
